Distant Stars Chapter Eight: Capella's Tears

The time is 3:00 a.m. right now. Capella has stood outside of the castle for the past three hours. To complicate matters, Rigel's sudden decision to not make his way to the castle yet can only make one wonder how long more does Capella has to wait...
"I'm so tired. This is taking forever, Antares." lamented Capella. "Can you ask Arcturus not to play games with me anymore."
"Capella, I understand how you are feeling right now. But I am just following orders" replied Antares.
Suddenly, Arcturus called for Antares from within the Castle.
"Antares, come over." ordered Arcturus.
"Yes, coming over right now" replied Antares.
"Ask Capella to rest at the grass patch, let her know that you will wake her up once the conditions are met." ordered Arcturus. "Keep this information to yourself, Rigel won't be here anytime soon."
"Yes, I will attend to it now." replied Antares.
Antares walked towards the gate and informed Capella as instructed.
"Are you for real?! Arcturus was the one who asked me to come and I have to continue to wait again?" raged Capella. "Fine, I will give in for now but just let Arcturus know that I am so mad now."
Feeling helpless about the situation, Capella decided to lie on the grass patch to admire the beautiful skies. The only ones keeping Capella accompanied were the whispering grasses as the winds breezed through them. It was so soothing that she fell into deep slumber soon after she lay down.
"There was no longer the rustle sounds of the grasses, or rather it had faded, and her ears were also adjusted to the low hum of chatterings and steady automated noises made by the sliding door movements. While her fingers danced skillfully over the plastic keys, the keys sang out like a chorous of doors on a faulty latch. Not far away was the smell of the broth of some kind, and tea, and she remembered that she had not taken her lunch. She was suddenly struck with hunger.
--- Let's go, let's go, her friends said, and she reluctantly left the seat with a pile of tabs showing on the screen. They headed out of the room, passing through the curtains, into a mini pantry. A teakettle, a mini fridge, and a frying pan were spotted. Towards the back of the kitchen was a glass window that gives a decent scenery view of the surroundings. A man wearing his uniform on the bicycle returned. Directly across the street was a multitude of private houses. And a huge convenience store was situated near the houses. Without pausing, the man dipped his hands into his shoulder bag and threw. She listened to the impact of the newspapers on each door and the ringing of his bicycle's bell.
--- Come in, come in, she's at the pantry area, one of her friends said, and Capella became curious to find out who specially came to visit the consultation room. Behind the curtains, she could hear lots of teasing and laughters. The unwrapping sounds of the plastic bag. The unzipping sounds of a bag. As she decided to pass through the curtains back into the room, she felt a hand caressing on her head, and she said, I can go on a little longer, give me more time, and she resiliently got through the curtains. Her friends whistled and clapped. And she teared on the spot."
The pair of hands continued to caress Capella's hair. With the sunlight casting shadows on them, Capella finally woked up. She then quickly adjusted her eyes to see the person standing right before her. But she froze and was startled to see a man in a state of distraught with his ripped t-shirt and slightly torn pants.
"You are...? Are you okay?" worried Capella.
"I'm okay, Capella. I'm so happy to see you. Let's start walking into the Castle together." smiled Rigel.

Distant Stars Chapter Seven: When Our Journey Begins

Both Capella and Rigel are still clueless as to what awaits them. What lies ahead remains to be an unsolved mystery. But one thing for sure is that someone has been watching over each and every move taken by them. And that person is none other than Arcturus.
"I wonder what made Capella rejected the Prince. It is definitely unmistaken that the Prince has possessed qualities which Rigel genuinely lacked. In so many ways, I just cannot comprehend her decision." Arcturus opined. "Rigel will be so happy if he gets to know about this. Haha."
"Antares, ensure the gates are locked until you see Rigel and Capella are at the entrance together." ordered Arcturus.
Finally, Capella has reached the gates of the Castle.
"Yes, finally, this must be the Castle that Arcturus told me to find." smiled Capella. "Hello Arcturus! I am here already."
Suddenly, a solder-like figure was walking from the Castle towards the gates.
"You must be Capella, right? I've orders that I am not allowed to open the gates until the right conditions are met." Antares affirmed.
"If you refuse to let me in, where else can I go?! I'm so worn out from the happenings and the walk." Capella wept softly.
"I am sorry, Capella. But I will get you some water and food in the meantime. You can also enjoy the beauitful lights of our castle at the same time." comforted Antares.
"Fine...okay, thank you." replied Capella.
Meanwhile, Rigel continues to make his way to the castle but halfway through...
"Woah, wait a moment, this building is so familiar!" Rigel exclaimed. "It looks exactly just like my secondary school!"
"The lights are still on! I'm going to go in and find some friends for help." Rigel thought to himself.
Rigel walked into the school compound and roamed through the classrooms before reaching the classroom he last studied in. Along the way, he saw many familiar faces.
"Hey Lester! Hey Jenny! Hi Yiling! Hello! Hello...? Can you hear me?" Rigel babbled. "Okay, it seems that I can hear them but they can't hear me at all. I must still be stuck inside Arcturus' space.
It was at this moment where Rigel saw the younger version of himself.
"It's myself... oh wait, I seem to be writing down something on the notebook." said Rigel.
"Hi Capella, I am your secret admirer. If you wish to find out who I am... I will be waiting for you outside classroom 4-11 during recess later on." Rigel read the notebook.
"Wow, I cannot believe that I used such an unromantic and creepy way to confess my feelings. Haha. I got to see how Capella looks like!" Rigel exclaimed.
While waiting for Capella to appear, Rigel looked up the skies and realized that it was still night time.
"Ah! I think I understood what's all these about. I am essentially walking through a part of my memories! Just that I don't recall having gone through these moments. Then, again, why these moments though?" wondered Rigel.
Suddenly, the young Rigel froze in anxiety when he saw Capella walking towards him from a distance. Not long later, Rigel's eyes also became watery.
"Arcturus, I get it. I remember everything now." murmured Rigel. "And if you hear me, I am not ready to go to the Castle yet."

Distant Stars Chapter Six: Capella's True Faith

With no other viable options, Capella heeded Arcturus's instructions and stepped out of the room to find the castle. To her bewilderment, she could not believe what was right before her eyes. It was a stairway made of crystal ice with the most intense blue colour that one can ever imagine.
"Woah! It's so beautiful! I just can't believe it. I should have stepped out of the room earlier!" marveled Capella. "Helloooooooo, can anyone hear me?"
The only sound that Capella could hear was the wind flowing its way downward, which caused the air bubbles trapped inside the ice to be squeezed out and the size of the ice crystal to increase.
"Woah, okay, okay, is the ice even safe to step on? I don't want to fall" wondered Capella. "Maybe I should just return back into the room and wait for someone to save me. That is the most practical option I'm left with! There's even a bed for me to lie on."
Suddenly, the room behind Capella disappeared and a note read, " Capella, please proceed on ahead" appeared.
"Eeek! What is this! Can anyone save me, I'm horrified!" squeaked Capella.
And a man dressed in a white tuxedo suit then called out to Capella and walked down the stairs.
"Come, Capella, hold my hand and let's walk up the the ice stairway together. Don't worry, you will be fine" comforted the Prince as he held Capella's hands.
As the Prince and Capella walked up the ice stairways, the surroundings suddenly came alive! Out of nowhere, the birds were roaming through the clouds as their chirps rippled through the icy cool stairways. From those first few notes burst so many more, as if the birds have collectively been waiting for Capella and the Prince. Not only did the surroundings became alive, there were many more people walking down and standing along the stairways.
"Don't you find this to be a sweet evening, Capella?" questioned the Prince.
"Yeah!! I love the atmosphere!! It's so romantic with the birds chirping and the light winds blowing at us." replied Capella.
Suddenly, a woman standing at the stairways, carrying a bunch of flowers called out to them.
"Excuse me, young gentleman, would you buy flowers for your beautiful companion?" asked the woman.
"Sure, give me everything you have. I will buy it all from you." replied the Prince.
At this point in time, Capella blushed and was covertly smiling in her heart.
"Awww. You don't have to do that. That's very sweet of you." bubbled Capella.
"These flowers should be the ones feeling honoured and thankful. They are being held by the prettiest woman in this universe." complimented the Prince.
"Thank you, hehe" cackled Capella.
As they continued to walk on, there were many more people walking down the stairways. The prince pulled Capella closer to him as they braved through the crowds. At the end of the ice stairways, Capella finally saw the castle as instructed.
"Woah! The castle looks impressive too! I have to get going to there soon though!" mumbled Capella.
"What, Capella? I am going to lose the prettiest girl in my life! Hahaha." joked the Prince. "Hmm, can I make a request that you do not go to the castle and accompany me? I will take good care of you for life!"
There was a brief moment of silence as Capella looked up the skies.
"The stars are shining so brightly... they are amazing..." exclaimed Capella. "I don't know why but I love the stars so much tonight and honestly, I like to play with the stars."
"Hahaha, are you kidding me, Capella? You just dodged my question. Haha. Anyway, what sort of a comment is that? The stars are so high up and they look the same every night!" replied the Prince. "I can buy you an apartment high up and we can admire the stars together every night."
Then, Capella suddenly recalled Arcturus exact words to her, "You have to find your way to the Castle. Remember to use your heart to feel!"
"Thank you though!! That's really sweet of you and I got to admit that although the time spent with you is short but it is really fun! Hehe. But... I really have to get going this time." sobbed Capella.
"Is that it, Capella? You really don't wish to consider once more?" questioned the Prince.
"Yes, I'm going." Capella reassured.
All of a sudden, the Prince vanished into thin air and Arcturus's voice appeared.
"Capella, well done. Please make your way to the castle. There are more things awaiting for you" ordered Arcturus.

Distant Stars Chapter Five: Rigel's Fateful Night

Without hesitation, Rigel followed Arcturus instructions and stepped out of the room and saw a huge waterfall right before his eyes. From a distance, the waterfall had been like a silent white stream cascading over the rocket outcrops.
"Woah! I can't believe what I am seeing with my own eyes! And where is the castle?! Arcturus must be fooling me." exclaimed Rigel. "I remembered that I could see it from my room's view but I am nowhere near now!"
"Right now... I am stuck on this hill with no other paths at all. How does Arcturus expect me to get across?" wondered Rigel. "Hello!! Will anyone come and save me!"
As Rigel walked closer to the edge, the noise increased steadily until he could barely hear himself over the defeaning roar of the water. "Can someone just save me from this ordeal already, I don't even know why I am here to start with..." Suddenly, a strong gust of wind passed by which caused Rigel to lose his balance.  He tripped over the edge.
"Ahh! I'm surely dead this time! Goodbye mum! Goodbye Dad!" weeped Rigel.
However, the flow of the waterfall suddenly surged rapidly which managed to engulf Rigel's impact from the fall. Rigel was in disarray and quickly attempted to keep afloat. But the plume of water vapor that hung over the plunge pool made Rigel breathless as well as losing sight of his surroundings.
"Oh... oh my... my god, save me!! I can't breathe soon!" cried Rigel.
Suddenly, a tribal looking guy lifted Rigel with a big fishing net.
"Oh my god! What now! I am caught in a net! Don't kill me please" pleaded Rigel. "Please just let me go..."
The tribal guy finally released Rigel at the bottom of the waterfall. Then, he pulled Rigel into the dark woods. The bare branches spiked into the sky with no signs of life to be found anywhere. It was so dark that one would barely able to see where one is going. The only sounds were rustling bushes and howl of the wind. At this point in time, Rigel was apprehensive about the journey ahead.
"Young man, change into a new set of clothes first." ordered the Tribal man. "What brings you here anyway?
"Hey, thanks for the clothes man! I have no idea why I am here too." replied Rigel "By the way, where am I?"
"Young man, I have never ever seen a clothing like yours! I am deeply shocked! You are in the Wandering Oak Grove forest!" answered the Tribal man.
"Where on earth is that? I have never heard of it before! Anyway, have you seen a Castle nearby here?" questioned Rigel.
"What are you saying, young man. How can there be a castle in the woods?" laughed the Tribal man. "Anyway, I have been waiting for a young gentleman to pass by this forest for years. I have an important task for you"
"Huh. What? I just want to get out of here..." pleaded Rigel.
The tribal man forcefully brought Rigel to a hill and thereafter handed Rigel a pickaxe.
"Young man, this means a lot to me and my family. I'm already old. My wife is currently very sick. Behind this hill lies a hospital and by knocking down this hill would mean that my family need not travel such a long distance anymore." pleaded the Tribal man.
"Okay... I'm sorry to hear that your wife is undergoing such an ordeal... but I will be very frank with you. I will need a very long time to knock down this hill. By then... maybe traveling to the hospital via the longer route would make more sense to save your wife's life..." replied Rigel.
While the Tribal man continues to be in his own world.
"Young man, I can see that you are very different. No man would travel to this forest on their own accord!" replied the Tribal man.
"Hey... you see, I have no intentions to be here at all... never mind. I will try my best." sighed Rigel.
Rigel picked up the pickaxe and began to chip off the big rocks. While the old man looked at him by the side. This went on for several hours. Surprisingly, Rigel did not back away and instead, worked harder as time passed by.
"I could be saving one's life if I can knock down this hill." Rigel naively thought to himself. "Since I'm already stuck here, let's just make use of my time wisely."
Meanwhile, six hours have passed, the old man only continued to watch by the side and Rigel never stopped. When the old man noticed that he was about to black out, he spoke.
"Young man, you used six hours and chipped off more rocks than I ever did in five years. I am very touched by your actions." smiled the Tribal man.
"Hey, it's nothing much man. Haha. I'm really glad that you are reciprocative towards my efforts! I hope all these will get to save your wife!" replied Rigel. "Anyway, I guess I am prepared to be stuck here forever..."
"Young man, do retract your last sentence. Where has your confidence gone to? You are behaving very differently now! What I saw for the past six hours was a confident young man using only a pickaxe to chip away the rocks." the Tribal man retorted. "Alright, young man, stop chipping away the rocks."
"Don't you want to save your wife anymore?" wondered Rigel.
"Young man, I really admire your naivety and faith in me. I'm thankful for your efforts, but my wife passed away several years ago." replied the Tribal man. "Rigel, these are your weaknesses - you have always been quick to trust people as well as always giving someone your best without thinking for yourself at all."
"Wait, you know my real name all along?!" replied Rigel. "What is all this about?!"
"I did it for your own good. I set these challenges to ensure that you realized your own weaknesses, Rigel. Do you still want to get to the castle? If that's the case, now, I want you to imagine that there's a castle behind this hill." ordered the Tribal man.
"I am so angry with you but yeah, thanks!! I have wasted so much time here and I need to get to the castle quickly!" replied Rigel.
Rigel's imagination made the entire hill disappeared into thin air. He was in disarray once more. Finally, the old man smiled and gave his parting words.
"Rigel, you have a strong mind and will. Your qualities such as determination and perserverance will get you where you want to be. Do remember that it can be a really lonely process. What I admire about you is that you will always see things to the end with your best. Just be careful of your weaknesses." cautioned the Tribal man.
"Yeah! Thank you for the guidance! I have to get going to the castle now!" thanked Rigel.
The old man walked back into the dark woods and disappeared into the thick fog. Suddenly, Arcturus's voice appeared.
"Rigel, congratulations. Please make your way to the castle now. I am sure that you want to find out the real reason behind all these." ordered Arcturus.
But at this point in time, Rigel looked up to the skies...
"Hmm... it seems like I have something unaccomplished..." wondered Rigel.

8427 Sheets Of Paper

There lies a universal fact which we all know about the universe we live in. That is, time waits for no one. Time continues to move on regardless of the circumstances. Its significance is based on the sole fact that it accompanies us throughout our destined lifespan. Time and we are inseparable entities - time will move for as long as our existence lingers around in the world. Bearing this simple fact in mind, I shall write this post with the hope that you will find that your time spent is worth after reading it.

Who would have known what was your purpose in life when we were just born into this world? Yet, time continues to move on without sparing a thought to our circumstances. Time, viewed in this manner, is like a robot without emotions. That's why we all need someone to guide us in our lives and oftentimes, our parents will take up this crucial role. Had my parents left me to explore this universe on my own, I would have found it incomprehensible most of the time. Then, we also needed schools to further educate us on what is right and wrong in society on top of what our loved ones have already often advised us. While in schools, we made friends and even developed some feelings, also known as puppy love, towards some people. That was perfectly fine. The point is that we discover ourselves in different ways and varying amounts at each phase of our lives. Some just discover much more than the rest. Just remember that time still moves on unsympathetically.

Now, if I may have you to imagine that every day of your life was penned down onto a piece of paper, what would you have written? I know it seems really unrealistic as we consider these following considerations: what do you write when you have not even learned how to write? do you have the mental capacity and maturity to write even after learning how to write? All of these takes time to develop while keeping in mind that some learn much faster than others. Thus, the most intuitive answer which we all can relate is that these papers are left blank during those phases of our lives. Finally, the most practical consideration of all: how feasible is this idea? So here comes my point:

I am not certainly asking you to take a thousand pieces of papers to pen down your life journey. What I am trying to do is to have you all to conceive that life is just like a stack of papers piling on top of one after another. In short, the pile of papers represents your current wealth of experience, knowledge, and memories. If you were to factor time in, each piece of paper will then have a date and time. Many of us will probably begin life with a foundation made of clean sheets of paper and some simple moments. Then, as we grow older with time, the middle and higher stacks become more written and filled with greater complexities of life. One day, we will use this stack of piled papers to tell a meaningful and purposeful story. However, has it come across to you what happens when a portion of the stack is conscientiously removed? Papers are different from dominoes. The former will either fall silently back to the base or outside of the base while the latter will crumble and certainly fall outside of the base. Papers, although, run a 50-50 possibility of falling outside the base, the question to ask is, is the risk of removing it just for the sake of not getting reminded of unhappiness and setbacks worth taking? Once it runs outside of the base, you will not find yourself anymore.

Today, I have 8427 sheets of paper with me. I have decided not to remove any sheets of paper. As I want to be able to tell my children or convince everyone using the 8426 sheets of paper, and not just a part of it, that this is the kind of person that I hope to be or have become as a result. I want to write the remaining sheets of papers with purposeful events and doing more great things for the society. What about you?

The memories will forever be etched in my heart.
Thank you for taking the time to read.

We are all one decision away from statistics

This is a fictional story which revolves around a man named Alan. When he was only four years old, his biological parents left him. Alan was adopted by several foster families. Once, he was abused by one of the foster cares and had to be sent to the hospital for treatment. At that point of treatment, he was twelve years old, and the hospital has subsequently arranged a new foster care for him. Thereafter, Alan was skeptical about his life and trusted no one.

When he arrived at his new foster care’s house, he wanted to make sure that his departure from it was the soonest. He threw tantrums, messed up the houseware, and disobeyed basic instructions. He continued doing this for years. But he realized that nothing of these worked and decided to do something worse. He borrowed his friend’s car and drove without a license, joined the triads, and robbed money from people. Up to this point, he was fifteen years old.

One day, he was arrested and thrown into the jail. His foster parents were utterly disappointed but bailed him out and said to him, “We need to talk.” Alan sat down with his foster parents to have a proper conversation for the first time. “Alan, we may not be your biological parents but when we decided to take you in; it was a lifetime responsibility for us. But, now, comes the time that we either control your life or allow you to continue with what you want to do. The former is not a very popular choice but the latter is definitely an impossible choice.” Then, Alan thought to himself, “Hmph! What sort of cheesy words are these to say to a sixteen years old boy?”

But Alan was touched by the reality; he could feel that someone meant what they said for the first time. Having grown up in an environment denied of parents’ love and constantly attempting to fill this empty vessel construed by the way he has perceived life seemed all foolish at this moment. And he broke down into tears. His foster parents continued, “Alan, we have never seen you as a problem but instead we see you as an opportunity.” Alan found it simply unbelievable that his foster parents never seen him as what he was on the surface – a troublemaker, the ungrateful kid, and the obnoxious kid …

Now, the moral of this short story strives to encapsulate the importance of family love through the lens of statistics. Statistically, Alan might have either ended up dying in the jail or contributing to a list of heinous crimes committed. But the foster parents' perpetual love and belief in him, saved him. Thus, one should always think twice about their actions and words, for they might save someone.

Be that someone to make a difference in peoples’ lives.

Make It Through The Lies

This is a short narrative that centers around a man's experiences in love. He had one relationship but things ended on a bad note. And that has scarred him considerably. One day, when he thought he was close to finding it again, things took a turn for the worse, once more. Against all odds, he figured out what really mattered to him.

Adam has always been a righteous, responsible, and honest person. Take, for example, he would raise his hands to inform the teacher if he found his friends cheating in a class test. He would be quick to correct others of their wrongdoings. Thus, his personality left him with few friends and attracted the dislikes of masses. In school, people even called him a ‘loser’. He got into his first relationship when he was in his twenties. He was a traditional man and dense towards romance at the same time. Shortly later, Adam and his girlfriend, Laura, bought a house and lived together. Everything was doing alright until one day; he caught his girlfriend red-handed with another man in the house. Adam accused the man, but his girlfriend replied that it was mutual. Upon hearing that it was mutual, Adam pulled the guy over and asked him if he was serious and wealthy enough to take care of her? The man said, "of course" and Laura even told Adam not to worry about her. However, Laura knew that Adam loved her a lot and would even give up the house to her, so she played the guilt-treat game. Laura successfully tricked Adam into leaving the house behind for her and he left the house scarred, bitter, and with a broken heart. But Laura popped one more question to Adam, “Will you want me back if everything else fails?” Adam nodded, yes, at that time.

Meanwhile, Adam has been visiting an old man in the old folk’s home on a weekly basis. The old man was heartened to learn how kind-hearted Adam is. Adam knew that the old man was abandoned by his own children and thus, he knew that the old man would be lonely. One day, unbeknownst to Adam, the old man decided to have his will arranged with a lawyer. The will states to give a lump sum of $150 million to Adam. However, the lawyer fooled around and got himself drunk on that night, and all of his confidential documents were accidentally leaked to a woman named, Grace. To her surprise, she found out that a sum of $150 million was willed to give to a man called Adam. Upon closer inspection of the full name, she realized that the name reflected in the confidential documents was her old schoolmate! And when the lawyer realized that his documents had been disclosed, it was already the next morning.

Grace began to bear ill-intentions to get closer to Adam so as to become richer, and thus, she researched on Adam's whereabouts. She was successful in relocating Adam. She also remembered that Adam is a genuine and honest person back in school, so she planned meticulously to make use of his personality in the hope to get into his good books. She confessed to Adam about her plight and as planned, Adam fell for it by offering her a place to stay at his new home. In return, Adam also shared about his plight to her, and she took the opportunity to comfort him. At that point in time, he felt that she was genuinely concerned for him.

Just when things were going accordingly as planned for Grace – Adam’s previous girlfriend, Laura, was cheated of all her money and had to sell the house, which Adam left behind for her, away. Laura remembered that Adam would promise to take her back. Thus, she proceeded to research on Adam's whereabouts. Having relocated Adam, she proceeded to wait at his doorsteps. At that moment, Adam was with Grace, where both of them saw Laura standing at the doorsteps. Grace could strongly sense that that woman was Adam's previous girlfriend. And Laura, upon seeing Adam, burst into tears and hugged him. Adam, being nice and a man of his words, offered to help her by offering her a place to stay for the time being. Grace felt that Adam was a genuine "idiot" at that moment.

Both women continued to live with the Adam under the same roof. They had their own rooms while Adam slept in the living room. Several days later, Laura expressed intentions to reconcile with Adam, but he was hesitant. When Grace witnessed the entire episode, she stomped into her own room and cried. She could not comprehend her feelings. "I am only after his money, but why do I feel this way right now? I can't help, but to feel jealous, whenever Adam treats Laura nicely." cried Grace.

The next day, Grace accompanied Adam to visit the old man; the old man finally revealed to Adam that he has willed all of his assets to him. Adam was shocked and immediately rejected it. He even reminded the old man about his aspirations to donate this sum of money to start up a charity fund. But the old man replied, “I entrust you to do it for me, and some of this money can also provide security for your loved ones too!” Grace knew all of these before Adam, but she had to act as if she just got to find out as well. And it was at this moment, where Grace finally used up her luck; the lawyer turned up at the old folks' home to clarify the details of the will with the old man. The lawyer saw Grace but did not expose her on the spot, instead, he secretly told Grace to meet him at the Bar. On the same night, the old man, unfortunately, passed on, and both Grace and lawyer met up.

At the bar, the lawyer reminded Grace of her past career as a prostitute and threatened to sue her for going through all of his confidential documents. He told Grace, “Both of us know that Adam is an honest and gullible man, he will definitely follow the old man's wishes, so if you can cheat some of his money to split it with me, I’ll let go of this matter and not expose you at the same time. You are a smart woman, you know what's best for yourself.” Although what the lawyer proposed aligned with what Grace intended to do, she acquiesced. The lawyer even proceeded to take advantage of Grace for a sum of money. Under normal circumstances, Grace would have accepted it. But, this time, she resisted and even pushed him away. Grace thought to herself, “I can’t, I feel so wrong that I even have the cheek to cheat on Adam.” She ran out of the bar and was even more certain about her feelings towards Adam this time. What started out as a plan to cheat Adam’s money became a fateful development of true feelings for Adam.

The next day, Grace went to find her retired school teacher for some advices. She admitted how she wanted to get close to Adam for his money.
“Do you still bear this intention to cheat his money?” asked the teacher.
“I don’t anymore, and I think I even developed feelings for him” replied Grace. “I do not know how, but it just happened”
“Then, that’s good. Just be honest with Adam on how you intended to cheat his money initially but no longer want to anymore and regarding your past-career as a prostitute. No one is perfect. Most importantly, remember that the last thing you ever want in your life is to do something that makes you regret for a lifetime, and worst, you think about it at your deathbed.” comforted the teacher.
“Alright, yes, you are right.” replied Grace.
Remember the lawyer? As Grace consulted her retired school teacher; that evening, the lawyer, feeling all bitter and sore about what happened last night, went to Adam’s house to expose everything about Grace. At first, Adam refused to buy the lawyer’s story but the lawyer brought in witnesses and pieces of evidence to support his claims. This time, Adam felt even more devastated as he thought he was close to finding his true love, but things took a turn for the worse, once more.

Shortly, Grace also turned up at Adam’s house with the intention to confess everything. But when she realized the lawyer and the witnesses were already there, she knew that she was one step slower than them and that the situation no longer favored her. Shamelessly, she confessed her intentions to cheat Adam's money from the start and regarding her past career. And there followed a brief silence in the house. Just when the lawyer and the witnesses felt that their objectives were achieved, they made a quick move, leaving just Grace and Adam in the house alone. For your context, Laura was out dating another man at this moment.
“Adam, now that you know the truth about me. There's still one more thing that I wish to confess and that is I have developed feelings for you.” confessed Grace. “I am standing right here for you to give me your verdict."
“Erm, Grace, please do give me a while.” replied Adam.
Adam, being dense and gullible, ran into his room and called his sister to seek for advices.
“Sister, can you advise me on what should I do now?” asked Adam.
“Adam! You’re old enough to decide for yourself. But if you ask me, I will ask you to let go of her because if she can cheat once, then, she might do it again” chided the sister.
“But, what if,  I trust her and have developed feelings for her too?” replied Adam.
“Regardless of the feelings, if I have to choose, I will choose to leave her” replied the sister.
This moment, Adam was so afraid of getting hurt again and thus, he toughened to protect his heart.
“Grace, I never loved you before, if you are wondering about everything that I’ve done, it was simply out of sympathy towards your plight.” replied Adam.
Grace cried and ran out of the house immediately. And a tinge of sorrow within his heart followed instantaneously.
“Sister, I have let her go” said Adam. “But I am so afraid that I will regret this decision.
“Adam, what’s there to regret about? She didn’t genuinely love you to begin with. She came  with the intention to cheat your money! How sure can you be that she isn't lying or won't do it the next time? Furthermore, there are so many girls out there and with the money you have, why do you have to limit your own choices?” replied the sister.
A brief silence was observed in the call.
“Sister … whatever I’m going to say next may sound really absurd, but I think I realized something about myself, and that is, I am willing to let her cheat on me once more, if she wants to.” affirmed Adam.
Adam hanged up the call and immediately ran out of the house in the hope to catch up with Grace. Unfortunately, he never got to see Grace ever again.

Distant Stars: Chapter Four

Unbeknownst to Rigel and Capella, the unknown figure teleported them from the grassland and placed them in two different rooms but of the similar view of a brightly lit Castle. Then, the unknown figure appeared in each of their dreams to introduce herself.

Suddenly, the doors opened and made a creaking noise, sending a chill through their spines.
"It's time for you to leave the room. You have to find your way to the Castle. Remember to use your heart to feel! Good luck." whispered Arcturus.

Losing what matters

Lately, some thoughts have been running through my mind. They usually hit me the hardest during night times where everyone was asleep and I am alone with my thoughts in my bed. Those moments have landed me with really negative thoughts at times. And no matter how many times I tried to comfort myself, all that I could feel was mental exhaustion in the end. The future seemed bleak. There were no words to possibly describe the way my feelings have already fused with my thoughts. It felt like a never-ending cycle where I could never get out of it. I closed my eyes but only to get reminded of the memories and fears. The situation seemed helpless. Now, this was exactly what I went through not long ago. And I am writing this post to walk through with anyone that are experiencing such moments now. Trust me, nothing remains forever, for the good and bad.

Close your eyes and visualize who and what matters

Remember how I was trapped in my fears and memories? I made a conscious effort to close my eyes and visualize the people that mattered to me every night. For every night that I failed to do so, I knew that there will be tomorrow with brand new opportunities. The point was to never rush into committing what your heart was not ready to do so. I always believe that our heart and mind are inseparable entities when it comes to healing our wounds. For example, my mind knew that I was doing a disservice to myself every single day but my heart allowed it. When I was finally able to visualize the people that mattered in my life - I saw their faces and I knew that I have let them down because of how I was not able to walk out of my misery. Then, I told myself that it's either I continue to let the setbacks sink in and further disappoint my family and friends or I walk out and be happy for them. But, thankfully, I ended up choosing the latter. And this led me to realize something important. That was when I began to involve these people in my life, I stopped centering myself and the so-called-problems that once affected my life no longer had that of a great impact anymore. I got to love and help myself. Regardless of the choices I make, I knew that my family and close friends were not going to leave me. And it's only when I realized all of these, I became happier than before even when it meant to go the extra mile for these people.

The words that follow I am, follow you

Everyone has received labels from your family, friends, and colleagues at some point in their lives. I was labeled as short, fat, and sensitive during my primary school. When it came to secondary school, I was labeled insensitive, childish, playful, extrovert, and talkative. Now, the point that I'm trying to drive at is whatever labels you receive, if you ever take on them, you will attempt to live into them like a role that you are given in life. Who has the rights to give you these labels? You might attempt to change how people see you, but that won't be you anymore. And these labels usually hit you the hardest when you are bottomed in life. Thus, the most important element in the human psyche is how you describe yourself to yourself. You can rewrite any labels that you once accepted in your life, make it become what you want, tell it to yourself as many times you need for your brain to be reprogrammed. This is not about self-denial. Instead, it is about developing your self-esteem to love yourself. I am caring, funny, helpful, handsome, passionate, and so on. So what are you? The words that follow "I am", follow you.

Observe your surroundings

I never had a habit of taking much notice of my surroundings. It's either I immersed myself in my smartphone feeds or I rushed from one place to another in the past. Things are pretty different right now. I love walks, crowds, and nature. When I see a group of friends hanging out happily and parents holding onto their children hands, I gain refreshing perspectives on life. These perspectives make me realize that there are so many things too precious to be missed out in life. And I want to channel all my negative thoughts into positive ones - to help as many people as I can, to uplift the society to become a better place, to be genuine to new people and towards friends that I never once expressed genuineness at all.

I have not written something personal in a long while. I hope that my experiences can bring new perspectives into your lives. Thank you for taking the time to read.

Distant Stars: Chapter Three

"I'm ready, Capella." Rigel replied.
"If something happened where I had to move very far away, would you hold on to me? Or go separate ways?" quavered Capella.
There was complete silence as Rigel was briefly dumbstruck. As the couple stood under the tree, the leaves sang a melody of comfort for the couple. At last, he was ready to say something.
"Is everything, alright?" fretted Rigel. "And of course, Capella, you know me, I would definitely hold on to you. You mean everything to me, and I would fight, even if it means death, for you and for our relationship."
"Rigel, I ... don't ..." cried Capella as she tried to stop the tears from flowing down her cheeks. "I ... really don't ... know ... how ..."
Just before Capella could finish saying her words, a gush of violent winds accompanied by a bright flash caused Rigel and Capella to lose sight of their surroundings.
"Capella!! Hold on to my hands" screamed Rigel. "Do not ever let go!!"
"Yes!! Rigel, I am holding onto your hands!!" shrieked Capella.
Suddenly, a figure with tiny filamentous wings, with hair as black as the velvety night sky, dressed in a dress of flower petals and wielding a magic wand, inched her distance closer towards the couple. As she inched closer, a determined look on her face was observed.
"Rigel and Capella, let go of each other hands" she greeted.
"How do you even know our names?! No!! I won't let you separate us!" shouted Rigel as he continued to grip tightly onto Capella hands.
"Rigel and Capella, let it go." she repeated. "Everything will soon be over."
As she inched closer, the couple slowly lost their consciousness and they finally lost grip on each other's hands.
"Rigel and Capella, all the best." she whispered.

Distant Stars: Chapter Two

"Wait, what? Is there really such a myth? Cmon, we are a couple, can't you just share it with me already?" weeped Rigel. "Okay, why not let's have it this way, you shall promise to tell me if I win you in a race to that tree first!"
"You do remember that I was a sprinter back in secondary school right? Don't you? Alright, I have one request though! That is, if you beat me in the race, I will need you to answer my question first and depending on your answer, I will, then, consider whether if I want to let you know, one final time!" Capella replied.
"How is that even fair!" grumbled Rigel.
"Oh, to begin with, you do know that I don't even have to tell you, so looks like the deal is off." sassed Capella.
"Wait, wait, okay, Capella! Fine ... I was just kidding." fretted Rigel.
The couple stood up on the nicely trimmed grassland with light soothing winds that accompanied them throughout that night. Rigel's fate in finding out what Capella has wished was all dependent on this race. And he was also aware that there remained one final challenge: Capella's question.
"Capella, will you, if, don't mind drop me a hint on what you are going to ask me before we begin our race? So, I could think about it as I sprint later on" Rigel asked.
"Hahaha, are you being serious, Rigel? Capella cackled. "How long does it even take for you to sprint to that tree? Cmon, can you have a little more confidence in yourself? I'll ask you once you beat me in reaching the tree first, alright?"
"But what if I lose, and what if, I will never get to find out the question and your wish?" stammered Rigel.
"Then, that's how it's going to be! And I have faith in you!" Capella replied.
The couple proceeded to tie their shoelaces and also created their own imaginary start line. Finally, they were finished with the preparations. But Rigel looked lost.
"Hey Rigel! Hey! Rigel?!" Capella yelled.
"Um, huh, Yes ... Yes! Yes, Capella?" squealed Rigel.
"Are you okay? You look really sad! Are you really worried about losing the race against me?" questioned Capella. "At least give it a try, alright? And let's sing our favorite song's rhythm as we count down from 5 to ensure that we start at the same time!"
"Yeah, who says so! I'm fine. Okay! Sure! Hahaha" Rigel replied.
"Five to the Four, Three-and-a-two, and one, and zero" sang Rigel and Capella.
Off, they ran! As expected, Capella was leading the race. But, shortly later, things took a turn for the better for Rigel but for the worst for Capella.
"Eeek! Ouch, my feet! Rigel!" groaned Capella. "They are numbed! I'm in pain!"
"Capella! What happened!" Rigel panted. "Let's stop the race!"
What started out as a race, has become a demonstration of love and concern for each other. Rigel piggybacked Capella for the remaining distance towards the tree.
"Rigel, go and touch the tree first." comforted Capella.
"Huh?! We are still racing?" wondered Rigel.
"Yes, Rigel, we are."  Capella affirmed.
Rigel touched the tree as told.
"Are you ready for the question?" questioned Capella.

Distant Stars: Chapter One

Once upon a time, there sat a couple, named Rigel and Capella, who gazed up at the thousand tiny glistening stars across the dreary cold night. The skies were clear and the stars were shining more brightly than ever before.
"What a beautiful night, don't you think so?" Rigel said to Capella. "How I wish every night would be filled with stars, clear skies, and light winds."
"That would only exist in our dreams." laughed Capella. "Some nights will be brighter, and that's the beauty of nature!"
"Sigh looks like we have to cherish what nature provides us with every single day" lamented Rigel.
Amidst the silence, the guy held the girl's hand and the girl leaned her head over his shoulder as they continued to admire the stars.
"Do you believe that one day we will reach the stars in the sky to play with them?" Rigel whispered into her ears.
"Ah, when will you stop with all of your imagination." giggled Capella. "But, this is what makes you unique too, nobody would have thought of that, better prove it to me that it's possible."
"Sure! I will make it happen" Rigel nonchalantly replied.
Suddenly, a shooting star spanned the skies and the couple was in disbelief.
"Hey Capella! did you ... did you, see that?!" Rigel babbled. "Was that really a shooting star?! I thought they exist only in fantasies or storybooks! I can't believe it, was that really it? I never expect to witness one in my lifetime! Er ... according to one of the fantasies I've read! We are supposed to make a wish right now!" And Rigel babbled on and on without giving any chance to the girl to reply anything.
So she finally cut in, "Stop! Stop! Relax! Yes, Rigel, we saw a shooting star! Quick! Let's make a wish together!"
The couple stared in silence for as long as the shooting star took to disappear in the skies.
"So what's the wish you've made?" Rigel called to Capella.
"Hey! Don't you know that we were not supposed to share? It's a secret!! Hahaha" Capella called back at him.

Hiatus is over

Hello everyone! I'm back. :)

This year, 2018, marks the fifth year of blogging. I remembered that I wanted to start a blog due to pragmatic reasons: to improve my writing skills and to connect with past and present friends. While I understand that there are many social platforms to share our lives today, I have decided to stick to the traditional way of penning down my thoughts on my life this year. To my friends, I understand that my blog gets rather dry and amateurish since I am neither a professional writer nor graphic designer. So I thank you for your support and patience with me over the past few years. It has certainly been a bittersweet journey for me. Since I get variegated responses from all of you: in terms of post views, comments, and likes, whenever I attempted new ways of presenting my thoughts. Take, for example, I have tried different styles of writing, the attempt of GIFs, and many different genres to reach out to you all.

I got to admit that not every attempt was well-received and/or encouraging for me at times. But I do believe that every cloud has a silver lining, and I hope that I have not remained stagnated, but rather, improved from where I began five years ago.

These days, I would still browse through my old posts. And I smiled to myself and said, "Wow, just, wow, I have written these things". To me, it was just like a memory lane for me as I looked back on my thought processes, on what I cherished and so on. But I always tell myself, "Memories are not supposed to hold you back; they are supposed to shape you to become a better and stronger person"

To mark the fifth year of my blog site, I will be releasing the viewerships for my top 10 blog posts throughout these years:

Thank you for the support all these years. I will work on producing better articles to make our community a better place for all. I have a few ideas which I hope to discuss in the year 2018 as well. Do watch out for them. :)
